17/04 Founding of the label Catharina Mende

Off to new horizons - design under my own name and with my own story. As a "One Woman Show" I start to set up my textile label in Berlin - it will play with open borders to fashion, art and architecture and is based on international trends such as mobility, emotional comfort and cultural mix. All plaids, bedspreads and travel blankets are made from exclusive natural materials by carefully selected, experienced manufacturers in limited editions in Scotland, Italy and Spain. 
I originally come from the field of fine art and design and love color and shape. It is therefore obvious that the throws and their design speak their own color and form language and are pieces of character for lovers of high-contrast design. The wool blankets should not only be objects of daily use, but also design objects. Of course I strive for the most beautiful blanket - yes, its design should be filled with beauty in addition to excellent quality. And yet it is clear that design is only good if it also works. The pieces work and with a high emotional value. You can love them and live with them - at home and when traveling.
